Usage Instructions
- Preparation: Ensure both vehicles are turned off before connecting the jump leads. Locate the batteries in both vehicles.
Connecting the Leads:
- Attach one end of the red (positive) lead to the positive terminal of the dead battery.
- Connect the other end of the red lead to the positive terminal of the good battery.
- Attach one end of the black (negative) lead to the negative terminal of the good battery.
- Connect the other end of the black lead to an unpainted metal surface on the engine block or chassis of the vehicle with the dead battery. This helps to ground the connection and prevent sparks near the battery.
Starting the Vehicles:
- Start the engine of the vehicle with a good battery and let it run for a few minutes.
- Attempt to start the vehicle with the dead battery. If it doesn’t start, wait a few more minutes and try again.
Disconnecting the Leads:
- Once the vehicle with the dead battery starts, carefully disconnect the leads in the reverse order: remove the black lead from the grounded metal surface, then from the good battery, followed by the red lead from the good battery, and finally from the previously dead battery.
- Aftercare: Allow the vehicle with the previously dead battery to run for at least 15-20 minutes to recharge the battery fully.
Ideal Scenarios for Use
- Emergency Situations: These jump leads are perfect for emergency situations where your vehicle’s battery has died, and you need a quick and reliable jump start.
- Routine Maintenance: They can also be used during routine maintenance checks to ensure your battery is functioning correctly.
- Travel: Keeping a set of these jump leads in your vehicle is a smart precaution, especially during long trips or in cold weather when batteries are more likely to fail.
